DESCRIPTION:\nSunday May 5, 2024, 2:30 p.m.\n\n\n\nOrchestra and chorus join forces to perform Fauré’s Pavane Op 50, a beautiful and elegant work that will be familiar to many in the audience, and can be sung, danced or played on the piano.  Also, Vaughan Williams’ uplifting and powerful Toward the Unknown Region, a setting of words by Walt Whitman.\n\n\n\nThe principal work on the program is Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, a moving and beautiful work based on the Catholic Mass for the Dead. The emphasis is on peace and eternal rest rather than heaven and hell.\n
