Bella Cello Studio welcomes students of all ages wishing to have private instruction of cello as well as group classes.
Cello Instructor: Silvina Samuel
Silvina was born and raised in Metchosin, BC. After graduating from the University of Victoria in 2005, Silvina won the position of assistant principal cello of the Vancouver Island Symphony. In 2008, Silvina moved to Maui and from 2008-2012 she was principal cellist of the Maui Pop’s Orchestra. She also played with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and Hawaii Opera Theatre on Oahu. Her collaboration with singer-songwriter, Jim Major, brought her to the stage opening for such bands as Santana, Mick Fleetwood & Island Rumours, Smashmouth, Train, Huey Lewis and Henry Kapono. While in Hawaii, Silvina recorded for a number of albums including Grammy nominated album, Wind Rock, Sea and Flame, produced by composer/pianist Peter Kater.
Returning to Victoria, Silvina joined the faculty at the Victoria Conservatory of Music and enjoyed time as a substitute cellist with the Victoria Symphony. With 24 years of experience, Silvina’s love of teaching paved a way to the launch of her teaching studio, Bella Cello Studio, with lessons beginning virtually during covid in 2020.
In 2021, Bella Cello Studio opened its doors to in-person lessons in a home studio setting.
In 2024, Bella Cello Studio’s growth led to the exciting step of having a studio space back in Metchosin at the Metchosin Arts and Cultural Centre building.
Silvina holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Cello Performance from the University of Victoria and has her A.V.C.M and Diplomas in Performance and Pedagogy from the Victoria Conservatory of Music and Camosun College.
