Huber Studio – written word and functional art
Charla Huber and her daughter, Soleil, have teamed up to create a studio that allows them to follow their artistic passions and to find ways to share them with the community and create opportunities to inspire others in the process.
Charla Huber is a Metchosin resident who is well-known for her journalism and writing. She worked as a local newspaper reporter for several years and has written a weekly column in the Times Colonist newspaper since 2016. Charla works with many organizations to add an Indigenous lens to communications and action strategic goals, as well as Indigenous relations. Charla also enjoys embroidery beading, drum making and cedar weaving.
Soleil, Charla’s daughter, is a middle school student who has spent her childhood playing and living in Metchosin. Soleil is passionate about arts including graphic design, manga, cosplay, painting and sculpture and uses her time in the studio for creative outlet.
Lia Carle is plays an active role in arts and culture, though activities such as grant writing and event planning.
Arnold Lim, film maker, director, writer and videographer, utilizes the space for meetings, video editing and other functions of his craft.
