Ocean Art: FLOW “where the water leads us”

March 15 – April 27, 2025

A single drop of water—puddle, stream, river—flowing to the ocean.

Ocean Art: FLOW, installed at the Point of View Gallery (POV), features a collective painting created over the past year with wide community participation. The artwork explores the movement and circulation of water on its journey to the ocean. Timed to celebrate Earth Day, the installation weaves together six previous community creation events: WHIRLPOOL, OCEAN ART: Tribal Journeys, MAKING WAVES, FALLING WATER, WATER WAYS, and WONDERS OF WATER. This collaborative ocean art and ecology project honours the waters that surround us and invites engagement with the local environment.

Ocean Art Walk on Earth Day – Tuesday, April 22 from the art centre to the ocean at Witty’s Lagoon starting at 11am.

Metchosin Day | WHIRLPOOL – September 8, 2024

At Metchosin Day, community members, families, and friends contributed by painting continuous lines and marks that represented water currents, waves, ripples, and whirlpools—an artistic reflection on water circulation and the majestic, mysterious ocean that surrounds our island.

Tribal Journeys: SC’IANEW Landing – August 24, 2024

An Ocean Art painting project was presented as part of the annual reception for Tribal Journeys, which celebrated the arrival of canoes at Beecher Bay / SC’IANEW Lands.
