Mary Pal Workshop, – Painting on fabric
Painting on Fabric with Neocolor II Wax Pastels February 2026
If you’re curious about painting on fabric, this is a great introduction. Complete beginners will learn how easy it is to add flowing and permanent colour to fabric with water-soluble wax pastels, which give a wonderful watercolour effect. No right or wrong, just play.
Just bring a few basic tools as all the supplies and a pattern for an 16×16” painted artwork are included. You’ll learn basic techniques for colour blending and paint application. In addition, you’ll experiment with creating surface design shapes using cheesecloth, to embellish your painted fabric.
There will be no sewing in the class, but instructions on how you could stitch the cheesecloth to the painted background when you get home are included, or it can be glued, and finishing options for wall-mounting will be demonstrated.
This is a relaxing class with no pressure and once the basics are covered, you are free to experiment on your own – bring additional fabric if you want!
